Astronomy and the Word of God

Yours are the heavens, yours the earth; you founded the world and everything in it.

Psalm 89:12

At the beginning, O Lord, you established the earth, and the heavens are the works of your hands.

Hebrews 1:10

Lift up your eyes on high and see who created these: He leads out their army and numbers them, calling them all by name. By his great might and the strength of his power not one of them is missing!

Isaiah 40:26

Does not God, in the heights of the heavens, behold the top of the stars, high though they are?

Job 22:12

The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, established the heavens by understanding;

Proverbs 3:19

The heavens declare the glory of God; the firmament proclaims the works of his hands. Day unto day pours forth speech; night unto night whispers knowledge. There is no speech, no words; their voice is not heard; a report goes forth through all the earth, their messages, to the ends of the world. He has pitched in them a tent for the sun; it comes forth like a bridegroom from his canopy, and like a hero joyfully runs its course.

Psalm 19:2-6

By the Lord’s word the heavens were made; by the breath of his mouth all their host.

Psalm 33:6

When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars that you set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and a son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him little less than a god, crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him rule over the works of your hands, put all things at his feet.

Psalm 8:4-7

You made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun that knows the hour of its setting.

Psalm 104:19

Then God said: Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good. God then separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” Evening came, and morning followed—the first day.

Genesis 1:3-5

Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun to light the day, moon and stars to light the night; Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar, whose name is Lord of hosts.

Jeremiah 31:35

Yours the day and yours the night too; you set the moon and sun in place.

Psalm 74:16
The heavens praise your marvels, Lord, your loyalty in the assembly of the holy ones. Who in the skies ranks with the Lord?
Psalm 89:6-7

There are both heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the brightness of the heavenly is one kind and that of the earthly another. The brightness of the sun is one kind, the brightness of the moon another, and the brightness of the stars another. For star differs from star in brightness.

1 Corinthians 15:40:41

Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven, praiseworthy and glorious forever.

Daniel 3:56

Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all shining stars.

Psalm 148:3

He shakes the earth out of its place, and the pillars beneath it tremble. He commands the sun, and it does not rise; he seals up the stars. He alone stretches out the heavens and treads upon the back of the sea. He made the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the south; He does things great and unsearchable, things marvellous and innumerable.

Job 9:6-10

You heavens, bless the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever. All you waters above the heavens, bless the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever. All you powers, bless the Lord; praise and exalt him above all forever. Sun and moon, bless the Lord; praise and exalt him above all forever.

Daniel 3:59-62

For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them. Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made.

Romans 1:19-20

Have you tied cords to the Pleiades, or loosened the bonds of Orion? Can you bring forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or guide the Bear with her children? Do you know the ordinances of the heavens; can you put into effect their plan on the earth?

Job 38:31-33

It was I who made the earth and created the people upon it; It was my hands that stretched out the heavens; I gave the order to all their host.

Isaiah 45:12

Thus the heavens and the earth and all their array were completed.

Gen 2:1
